AL HADA MOSQUE

Located in the serene setting of Al Hada, Riyadh, the Al Hada Mosque landscape was envisioned as a contemplative environment that enhances both the spiritual and communal experience of the site. Commissioned by Daaem Company and delivered by DIL, the project integrates thoughtful planting, irrigation, and lighting design into a cohesive whole.

The landscape design emphasizes simplicity, resilience, and beauty. Date palms, olive trees, and native Ziziphus form the backbone of the planting scheme, anchoring the mosque with shade and permanence. These are complemented by shrubs and ground covers such as rosemary, lavender, bougainvillea, and ornamental grasses, chosen for their adaptability, seasonal variety, and subtle fragrance. Rock groupings and desert-friendly textures further connect the site to its natural context.

Beyond planting, DIL designed and installed an efficient irrigation network tailored toRiyadh’s arid conditions, ensuring long term plant health with minimal water use. A carefully coordinated lighting strategy highlights the mosque’s architectural elements and guides visitors safely through pathways, while maintaining a calm night-time ambiance.

The project was completed within sixty days, with DIL responsible for landscape works, irrigation installation, and supervision of electrical works. The result is a sustainable and low-maintenance environment that aligns with the mosque’s identity as a place of worship and gathering.

Al Hada Mosque stands as an example of how landscape can enhance sacred architecture—framing moments of shade, fragrance, and reflection while remaining deeply rooted in the ecological realities of Riyadh.
